After standing at stud for several years in the Netherlands, Tonjes 459 Sport is back in North America.
Tonjes was born in 2006 and was bred by the Vanderploeg family of Ithaca, Michigan. He is sired by the great Anton 343 Sport and his dam is Tjallina W., a Model Mare out of Ulke 338 Sport. Tonjes came under the ownership of Kettle Creek Friesians in the fall of 2010 and spent two successful breeding seasons in North America. In October 2012, Tonjes made the long trip across the Atlantic to begin his european breeding career. He stood at Stoeterij Bosksicht in Rijs, The Netherlands under the care of Sjoerd Meekma & Greetje Swart. In December 2013, Tonjes received enough qualifying scores to earn his Sport predicate after competing in only two dressage competitions at the Z1 level.
Tonjes 459 Sport stands 164 cm and is already growing a luxurious mane like the one his sire is famous for. He has also inherited his father’s temperament and is quiet, gentle and exceedingly friendly. Tonjes is a very breed-typical stallion with exceptional racial type and a tremendous trot, attributes he is clearly passing on to the first of his offspring.
